Wordpress Popup Windows Plugin System is a little different from the rest. It has two versions, the stand-alone Lite version or the more powerful Pro version that’s combined with another product called Advanced DHTML Popup Pro. The comparison between the two versions is available here, and if you’re done reading that we’ll continue to discuss the plugin further.
Ease of Use and Installation
In their own words, installation
[...] is like any other plugin, upload the folder, change a few permissions, activate. The whole process takes a couple of minutes only.
If you’re not familiar with the process of changing directory or file permissions on your hosting, be sure to read carefully the installation manual that’s included with the plugin.
You can see examples of their plugin setting page here. The forms are decently explained and there are useful options like the color picker and preview window.
Support and Documentation
They have this policy where they will respond to any question within 24 hours. If needed, you can give them access to your website and they will do the troubleshooting from there. Documentation-wise, they have a publicly visible tutorial page and an entire blog dedicated to tips and tricks on how to use their product, something I rarely find on other products.
Opt-in e-mail List Support and Compatibility
Aweber and GetResponse opt-in forms are supported by default.
Custom Pop-up Contents
You are allowed to input any kind of HTML contents into your pop-up. If you already have your content elsewhere, you can make your pop-up link to it or display it directly with an iframe. With the Pro version, you get an even better content editor that comes with the (Windows-only) Advanced DHTML Popup Pro software.
Multimedia Support
This is where this plugin shines: not only does it support videos, but its Pro version allows for transparent videos as well (complete with tutorials on how to make one). It can also do other interesting things with videos, you can add a single anchored video, multiple anchored videos, and daisy-chained videos (you can see the examples here). You can also embed images and use the pop-up to show full version of thumbnail images.
Types of Pop-up
Entry and delayed pop-ups are available for the Lite version. The Pro version has them and exit pop-ups as well.
Stylability and Placements
The Lite version allows you to do these:
Color pickers are provided to choose colors for the border, title, shadow and title text. The width of the border and shadow may be set, the size and position of the dhtml popup may set.
The Pro version comes with the Advanced DHTML Popup Pro software that allows for greater styling options:
You can see more screenshots here.
Placement-wise, you can set the pop-up to show up on home page, all pages with exclusions, or single page. The Pro version comes with a cool Footer ad placement.
Design Templates
The Pro version’s software comes with design templates:

Lightbox and other Effects
Both the Lite and Pro version support Lightbox effect. No other effects to be found, though.
How it Deals with Pop-up Blockers
All pop-ups made with this plugin is coded with DHTML, making it unblockable by most common pop-up blockers.

As mentioned before, there are two different pricing:
- Lite version: 19.95 EUR

* To use the Pro version, you need to purchase both the Lite version plugin (19.95 EUR) and the Advanced DHTML Popup Pro (34.95 EUR).
