WPReviewPro is yet another plugin to create your own review site. From the first look on the plugin’s website, it looks very similar to the WFReview plugin we reviewed before. But then it has some plus points than the previous plugin which include bundled themes including six free themes, a traffic tracking plugin and a competitive price.
This plugin comes as a package of 3 items which are: Star Rating Plugin, Themes Bundle, and a Traffic Tracking Plugin.
Now instead of discussing each feature in detail, let me write about all 3 packages one by one and then conclude.
Star Rating Plugin
This is the core of WPReviewPro package. This plugin converts your blog into a review based site. It has following features:
Add Ratings to Both Posts and Comments
This enables users to comment and give ratings to the product at the same time.
Categorized Ratings
It allows you to have different categories of ratings which is essential for a review site.
Customize Ratings Style
You can customize the rating style by choosing from various star types and changing its background colors.
Post Sorting
The plugin allows you to sort posts by average ratings, highest and lowest rated products and even include custom ratings options.
Editable Ratings
You can select from whether a product is rated only by you or by commenters and you can even alter its rating values from Admin panel.
Affiliate Link Management
The plugin comes with a very basic link management option which converts keywords to links of your choice. But no advanced options like cloaking and opening in new window are available.
Bundled Themes
WPReviewPro offers six free and various premium templates. Even when the site says these themes are plugin compatible, upon closer inspection of free themes tell me that they are simple WordPress themes with no plugin specific code found in any of them. So I was left wondering how these themes are being called plugin compatible.
Traffic Tracking Addon
WPReviewPro also offers a addon for tracking statistics of your review sites. It can track the number of visitors and links to your site and from where users are coming to your site. This addon also tracks keywords used to search for your site and the corresponding search engine traffic. Not only it tracks data, it even allows you to download all traffic data in CSV format. Now why would someone need this addon when you get even better reports and statistics from Google Analytics or from free plugin like WordPress.com Stats?
Support and Documentation
The only support method offered on the website is in the form of email support. Since I didn’t got the plugin copy, so I can’t comment whether it comes with a documentation or not but the site has no link to any form of documentation for the plugin at least outside the member area.
Pricing and License
Now one thing where this plugin can beat others is its affordable price. It comes under 8 Price options. Let me go through all of them:
- Star Rating Plugin only with 1 year updates – $29
- Traffic Tracking Plugin only with 1 year updates – $29
- 1 Review Site Template – $19
- Single Site License (Star Rating+Traffic Tracking+1 Theme) – $39
- Five Site License (Star Rating+Traffic Tracking+2 Themes) – $49
- Unlimited Site License (Star Rating+Traffic Tracking+2 Themes) – $69
- Super License (Star Rating+Traffic Tracking+4 Themes) – $129
- Premier License (Star Rating+Traffic Tracking+4 Themes+1 Customised Theme) – $199
All Licenses come with 1 year Free updates except Super and Premier License which come with 3 Year updates.
Missing Features
The plugin is too basic in its approach and misses some big features such as
- Comparison Tables
- Microformat HTML for Search Engines
- Dummy Comments Generation
- Google Maps Integration
- CSV Data Import
